Allison Fence:
A Long History of Success
Allison Fence Company, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, has a long, rich history.
When the company was founded in 1919, it was one of only three fence contractors in North and South
Carolina. The company's first office was in the Independence Building, a high rise located in the middle of downtown
Charlotte. The building was just down the street from the railroad station. This was important because the roads
were so poor in 1919 that Charles Allison Sr., the company's founder, had to take the train to visit various towns
to sell fences.
Allison Fence Company began as a Page Fence dealer selling chain-link fences. Today, the company sells and installs
chain-link, ornamental aluminum and iron, PVC, wood fence, highway guardrails and gate access controls. The company
completes about 3,000 jobs per year and employs 60 to 80 people depending on the time of year.
Four generations of the Allison family have added to the success of the business, and they have all enjoyed a long
involvement with the American Fence Association (AFA). Allison Fence Company was a charter member of the Carolinas
Chapter of the AFA. The company today shares a leading role in AFA's "Underground Utility Safety & Damage
Prevention" efforts.
Obviously, Allison Fence Company's successful history shows that the Allison family has known for a long time the
secret to running a thriving business. And, that makes them an excellent partner to work with on your next fence
project.
